Lucius have been the “it” band for some time now. The Brooklyn rockers have previously performed an incredible NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, released a well received EP, and embarked on a successful tour. For the past year, the public has been foaming at the mouth for more. Luckily, last month brought the release of Lucius’ first full-length album, ‘Wildewoman’ (Mom + Pop), and it brings with it some brilliant new videos and songs to obsess over.
Lucius is the perfect marriage between a fully realized bliss-pop indie sound-scape and musicians that know exactly how to execute a concept. They’ve created something that you never knew was missing from music but when you hear it, you’ll wonder where it was all along.
Lucius has produced a next-level video to match their incredible song ‘Tempest’ and its striking arrangement and melodies. Fronted by Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, who also star in the video, the band cultivates a unique personal style where 60s mod meets ‘colorful’ French noir. The video is able to blend these sensibilities with a visual narrative featuring picturesque vignettes of the band members. The product is a music video where each scene is a tableau so perfectly realized that it could stand alone as its own portrait.
Director Scott Cudmore deserves credit for creating a video that captures the distinct essence and motifs of the band so well. For more on Lucius, including tour dates, videos, and to buy their album check here!
