Freddie Wong Teams With ‘Key and Peele’, Will Cameo On Their TV Show

As we’ve previously noted, Comedy Central is trying really hard to get Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele‘s huge YouTube fanbase to tune into their half-hour sketch comedy TV show. After blitzing viewers with promos before and after each video, Key and Peele is now taking a different approach that it hopes will fix the Internet’s eyeballs squarely on Comedy Central. The two comedians teamed up with Freddie Wong for a special video, and in return, Wong will appear in Key and Peele‘s Halloween episode.

The video sets up a classic ‘Mexican Standoff’, with Key, Peele, and Wong unveiling increasing bizarre twists as they keep guns trained on one another. Even though it’s basically the same idea FilmCow had three years ago, it’s gets a pass because it’s pretty funny. The 5secondfilms cameo at the end is just the icing on the cake.

Key and Peele also joined Wong on his Facerocker podcast, which he recently re-launched in both video and audio form.

Wong will continue his collaboration with Key and Peele with an appearance in their Halloween episode, which airs October 30th at 10:30 PST. This is the second time we’ve seen a collaboration between Key and Peele and a YouTube creator; previously, they appeared in an episode of Epic Rap Battles of History while also featuring an EpicLLOYD cameo in a rap battle-related sketch.

I don’t know if integrating popular YouTube personalities like Wong will help Key and Peele‘s TV ratings. I only know one thing: That Mexican Standoff video is great, and you should watch it.
