Countdown: Top 7 Chemistry Videos On YouTube For Mole Day

October 23rd is a very special holiday, one that most of you probably haven’t celebrated since high school. That’s right, it’s Mole Day. Chemistry nerds all over the world are donning their goggles and measuring out their compounds in honor of Avogadro’s number, 6.02*10^23 (the number of atoms in a gram). To celebrate this day, here are our seven favorite chemistry videos on YouTube:

7. ‘Balancing Chemical Solutions – Chemistry Tutorial’ by TheChemistrySolution–This one is for all the actual chemistry students out there. Need some help with your homework? These guys know what’s up.

6. ‘Representing Structures of Organic Molecules’ by Khan Academy–OK, I lied, this one is for chem students, too. I’m not sure I have the “basic knowledge of high school chemistry” these lessons require, but I do know that Sal Khan is the man.

5. ‘Real Plutonium’ by Periodic Videos. This channel’s mission is to make one video for each element on the periodic table. Go choose your favorite element, or just watch for host Martyn Poliakoff‘s hair.

4. ‘Chemical Curiosities’ by The Royal Institution. There are many great lecture series on YouTube. Here is a one-hour introduction to the study of chemistry.

3. ‘The NEW Periodic Table Song (In Order)’ by ASAPScience. Tom Lehrer gets all the credit, but ASAPScience one-upped his ‘Elements‘ song with one of their own. It even arranges the elements in order.

2. ‘The Nucleus: Crash Course Chemistry #1’ by Crash Course. No one makes learning fun more skillfully than the Vlogbrothers. On their Crash Course channel, Hank Green regularly uses animated lessons to claim that chemistry is “not torture.” Bold statement, Hank.

1. ‘Wierdest Chemical Reaction I have Ever Freaking Seen!!’ by TheViralCat007. OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT.
