BBC Will Deliver Video News On Social Media Via Twitter Amplify

The BBC has struck a partnership that will allow its 4.7 million Twitter followers to get all the news they desire without having to leave their feeds. The top worldwide news channel has reached an agreement with the Twitter Amplify program, through which it will embed news clips inside of its tweets.

Twitter launched Amplify over the summer, with a whole slew of reputable news sources signing up to roll video inside of tweets. Twitter benefits by running ads against the videos, and the brands benefit by gaining more intimate access to their followers.

The BBC plans to take advantage of that access by launching #BBCTrending, a new program tailored to Twitter users. “Being a part of this new project is thrilling,” said Anne-Marie Tomchak, which will host #BBCTrending. “On Trending, we’re tapping the most powerful internal insight tools and the massive BBC international newsgathering and language operations to decipher why and how trends are happening on social media around the world.”
