RuPaul Picks Up Tyler Oakley In New ‘RuPaul Drives’ Web Series

RuPaul is hitting the road. The actor, drag queen, and host of VH1’s RuPaul’s Drag Race will give notable people rides around LA in his new web series, RuPaul Drives.

RuPaul Drives has the same skeleton as Jerry Seinfeld’s chatty web series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. In both, the host (a famous TV star) picks up a guest with a similar profession (many of Seinfeld’s guests are comedians and many of RuPaul’s will be other notable people from the LGBT community.) Once the two celebs are in the car together, the camera follows them as they drive around the city and shoot the bull. RuPaul changes up Seinfeld’s formula by skipping the coffee and rolling around in a Volvo rather than some fancy, rare car.

RuPaul’s first guest is none other than YouTube star and self-proclaimed ‘professional fangirlTyler Oakley. Fresh off his one million subscriber milestone

, Oakley rode along with Mama Ru and discussed his upbringing, his history of YouTube, and dirty charades.

RuPaul Drives is produced by World of Wonder, the company that also handles RuPaul’s Drag Race and a host web series, including #CandidlyNicole. Future episodes will be released regularly on the World of Wonder YouTube channel, and guests will include fellow drag queens Lady Bunny and Chad Michaels, Black Flag frontman and noted activist Henry Rollins, and many other fascinating figures.

It would be nice if World of Wonder could turn up the volume a bit, but RuPaul Drives has lots of potential. With such a charismatic host, there’s no doubt all of the conversations will be entertaining.
