Harley Morenstein and Muscles Glasses of Epic Meal Time are no longer the only Collective Digital Studios partners to star in a fast food commercial. Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch, the special effects whiz kids behind the Freddiew channel, have created a 30 second spot for Taco Bell, in which they chow down on digital versions of the chain’s addictively delicious Doritos Locos Tacos.
The video features Wong and Laatsch as they use a 3D printer to create a digital version of the year-old menu item. I can think of more worthwhile uses of 3D printing, though I’m glad Wong and Laatsch aren’t using their fictional device to openly disseminate firearms
.The spot will run on a number of national websites, including ESPN.com, Pandora, Songza, CBS Sports, and MTV.com. In short, it will be appear in all the places where people who enjoy tacos wrapped in junk food spend their time. In general, I would’ve liked a Freddiew commercial to have more special effects, but at least it has Mexican food, which is the next best thing.
