YouTube Licenses 100 Instrumental Tracks For Free Audio Library

Looking for the perfect sonic atmosphere for your next video? YouTube has you covered. The leading online video platform will offer up one hundred royalty-free tracks  in a few database called the YouTube Audio Library.

The site introduced the new service at Vidcon, where it also noted there is “more to come“. We don’t yet have any clues about the specific tracks that will be offered, but no matter how good or bad they are, they will no doubt be both free and better than nothing.

The Audio Library is a response to third parties such as Moby; the electronic musician recently reminded cash-strapped creators that many of his tunes are available for free on Mobygraits.com

. But why would YouTube let a third party implement a feature on user videos when it can implement it on its own? The company is trying to do that for pay-to-view videos, and now it’s trying to do it for background music. As a result, I expect to soon hear the same few musical hooks in multiple indie web series.
