‘Summer Break’ Launches First Look Into Teenage Lives

After drawing lots of coverage thanks to its unusual format, Peter Chernin and AT&T‘s Summer Break has launched across several platforms, with viewers getting their first look into the lives of the teenagers who will be chronicled nonstop during their last summer of high school.

Chernin called the project risky because the show’s producers don’t plan to engineer any drama, but the first episode shows why that won’t be an issue. It features two of the series’ nine featured teens–Clara and Lena–and films them as they gossip about the boys in their group. There’s also some conversation about the sensation of being constantly filmed, which seems to suggest that these girls want to be sure Summer Break

‘s producers get the drama they want.

Prior to the release of episode one, Summer Break‘s YouTube channel was home to a pre-show of sorts that took us inside the teens’ lives in the week leading up to the show. It also provided us with individual bios about the nine teens. Interestingly enough, one of them is Kostas from Teens React. Save some YouTube for the rest of us, man!

Of course, while YouTube episodes will provide the most engaging Summer Break updates, the show will be marked by a constant series of social media updates from its stars. Already, they have started tweeting up a storm, especially on the official Summer Break feed. They are also constantly Instagramming, adding a stream of photos to the mix. Kids these days with their Twitsters and their Instergrammars…back in my day, you had to wait for someone to check your Facebook if you wanted them to see how your life was going.
