Actor Gary Busey is known for his outspoken and unfiltered manner of speaking, so he seems like the perfect man to give honest, frank life advices to the droves of college graduates who are just now leaving the cushy, safe environment of the university and are entering the real world. Busey has used his Blip vlog series, The Busey Zone , as a platform for a commencement address to students at online universities.
Online universities don’t get to hear cool commencement speakers like David Foster Wallace and Stephen Colbert, so Busey is doing them a great service. Of course, his speech doesn’t exactly convey a traditional message. Instead, he implores University of Phoenix graduates to pop pills and wander out into the desert until it turns into a Salvador Dali painting. Now that’s some sound life advice.
The Busey Zone, born from a collaboration with Break Media, runs off the same formula as series like In Bed With Joan and Ask Mr. T: take an aging, infamously unfiltered celebrity, put him in front of a camera, and let him say whatever crosses his mind. For Busey, it’s not the first time he’s been nucking futs on the Internet, and, unless he never posts another video, I doubt it will be the last, either.
