New York trio MisterWives recently dropped their debut video for “Lullaby” in advance of their new EP, due out this spring. Equal parts indie pop and melodic soul, the group is getting a lot of buzz for their impressive live shows where they bring in a rotating roster of musicians to accompany their sets with actual instruments, an important distinction nowadays where it’s often too easy to substitute live sounds for some thoughtful button mashing

An inaugural video can be very important for a rising act. Whether they go the fully produced route with jibs, cranes, and VFX or take a chance on a low-budget handheld production, that video is often the first time masses of people have the potential to see, or even hear you.

On that note, MisterWives delivers an honest and impressive debut  that will surely encourage fans new and old to await their new EP with excitement. The low key, yet sonically impressive tune delivers visually with sporadic cuts and detailed set pieces, reminiscent of a modern day Dali vignette. Singer Mandy Lee’s vocals and visual intensity throughout is the driving force behind this clip and will make you click play over and over again.
