Lindsey Stirling’s First New Video In A Month Is ‘Radioactive’

Lindsey Stirling has been on tour since January, so the sparse activity on her YouTube channel is understandable. Nonetheless, the whirling violinist has found the time to treat her 1.7 million subscribers to a treat. She has released her first new video in a month, a string-heavy cover of Imagine Dragons’ ‘Radioactive’.

The video features an appearance from Pentatonix, the popular Texan a capella group with a large YouTube presence of their own. After last month’s ‘Thrift Shop’ video with Tyler Ward, this is Stirling’s second straight appearance with a brand name YouTube act.

‘Radioactive’ features most of Stirling’s signature touches, including elaborate costumes, highly choreographed dance moves, and a nice big helping of slow motion. She sure does love her slow-mo; perhaps her next guest will be Gavin Free

The Pentatonix add plenty of layers to the cover, accompanying Stirling’s violin music with some background mouth music. Their vocal creation of Stirling’s usual dubstep rhythm is sublime.

Stirling will tour for another month, and then will take a short window of time off before heading to Europe for more concerts. Therefore, we can expect her YouTube offerings to continue as occasional surprises rather than expected productions. If you really can’t wait another month to quench your Lindsey Stirling thirst, you can always go her in concert. I hear she’s pretty good.
