Questions arise when the powers that be behind a daily program produced by one of the premiere creators of comedy in the online video space decide its time for that daily program to take a break (especially when and where YouTube money is involved. So, we asked My Damn Channel CEO/Founder Rob Barnett why MDC Live is at least temporarily switching off the cameras and what he has in store.

Tubefilter: Why’s My Damn Channel Live going on hiatus?

Rob Barnett: My Damn Channel LIVE premiered on March 28, 2012 and we’ve produced 165 episodes of live comedy on the Internet. We’ve had a huge increase in engaged viewers and subscribers. And our hosts, Beth Hoyt & Daily Grace have been bringing our fans inside every episode to interact with great guests from film, TV, comedy and YouTube. Beth and Grace are going to be part of a major announcement at My Damn Channel in the days ahead about more new programming: original, curated, branded and LIVE.

Tubefilter: What’s going to happen to Beth?

RB: When we cast Beth Hoyt as the host of My Damn Channel LIVE last year, we knew we found an incredible, charming, funny talent.  And from the LIVE show to her “BethInShow” vlog, she continues to prove us right. We will absolutely be working with her in 2013.

Tubefilter: What else is in store in the near future for My Damn Channel?

RB: You will have to stay tuned for official announcements, but needless to say My Damn Channel has major plans in the works both on the studio side, creating premium comedy series for our partners, as well as a distributor of the top comedy talent on the interweb. We will have more to talk about by the end of the month.

Stay tuned.
