Panasonic Souping Up Digital TV Options, CEO Says At CES

Panasonic announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) its plans to expand its line of digital TV to make watching on the small screen a more interactive experience. In addition to wheeling out gigantic TVs and updated tablet capabilities, Panasonic CEO Kazuhiro Tsuga stressed the need for TV to evolve to face the needs of the increasingly interactive consumer base. “The next five years will transform more than the last 25,” he said. “Clearly, customers are hungry for this.”

Panasonic’s digital TVs will have increased personalization, allowing advertisers to target each individual consumer as he or she navigates a variety of menu-driven options. Panasonic TVs are already compatible with YouTube’s new remote control feature, one of Google’s exciting new options for entwining online viewing with TV waching. “At Panasonic, we are not sitting idle,” Tsuga said. “We are anticipating and shaping the future.”
