The Tubefilter Meetup that I wrote about a week ago is finally here. Tonight, big players in the pay-to-view game will gather at Busby’s East in LA to discuss the format and its increasing popularity. Many of you have already RSVPed, but for everybody else, there’s still time to reserve a spot at the Meetup by grabbing a ticket here.
To refresh your memory, our featured panelists will be Ugly Betty star Michael Urie, Please Subscribe director Dan Dobi, and Brian Norgard, CEO and Co-Founder of Meetup sponsor Chill. Tubefilter’s own Drew Baldwin will serve as the moderator. All of the panelists are involved in Chill’s recently launched Chill Direct pay-to-view platform; Dobi and Urie are among the service’s initial offerings, while Norgard obviously helped create it. If you can tear yourself away from the Maria Bamford special, they should have plenty to say about the online video industry’s ability to make its consumers shell out the big bucks.
There will also be a $1,000 giveaway from Division Camera, so if you want to be the lucky aspiring creator who gets to buy himself something nice, you know what to do.
We’re certainly excited about the event tonight, and we’d love to have a vigorous post-panel discussion. It starts at 7, so come take a break from the Machinima Interactive Film Festival exhibit and check it out. It’s not like you’ll miss anything on TV; Homeland only airs on Sundays.
Just gonna drop this here again for good measure. We’ll see you there!
