Tubefilter is now the Official Organizer for Social Media Week Los Angeles, and we’ll be looking to our Los Angeles community to help make Social Media Week LA (#SMWLA) a huge success!

In the first edition of our Behind The Scenes series on the SMWLA Blog, we provided some insight on our plans for this year’s event.

We see a tremendous opportunity to take SMW LA to the next level by doubling down on Los Angeles’ strength as the entertainment capital of the world and focusing on Hollywood as the epicenter of creativity. With an emphasis on the intersection of social media and entertainment, we intend to capitalize on LA’s robust online video, television and movies, celebrity culture, fashion, advertising, video games and music industries.

Please explore the SMWLA city page to get an idea about what we have in store for the week long event series in September 2012. And be sure to like, follow, and subscribe to keep on top of all that we have coming down the pike, and be sure to check out our high-profile Advisory Board to get a sense of the caliber of this event.

Here’s a crib sheet for what you need to know now:

  • Event submissions are now open.  As a part of the SMWLA community, organizations and individuals of any size or stature are invited to submit an event and join the global conversation exploring the cultural, societal and economic impact of social media.
  • The Instagram Your City contest deadline is fast approaching (June 29). We want you to represent LA and capture what makes Los Angeles unique to show the rest of the world. The winning contestant will be given the opportunity to travel to any Social Media Week city of their choosing during the September 24th–28th event.
  • It’s time to get involved. The success of Social Media Week is dependent on the collective involvement of the entire SMW community. Let us know how you’d like to pitch in. Your help matters. We’re looking for volunteers, speakers, partners, and bloggers to help make sure SMWLA is a great success.

Let’s help Los Angeles to reassert itself as the capital of creativity, innovation, and entertainment. Here’s to a fun and fruitful SMWLA 2012!
