Where to Watch the State of the Union Online

President Obama is set to deliver his fourth (and possibly last) State of the Union address tonight, Tuesday, January 24 to a joint session of the United States Congress in the House of Representatives chamber of the United States Capitol.

If you’re not a member of the United States Congress or a guest of a member of the United States Congress or the current presidential administration, you can watch the speech (which pundits predict will be “starkly populist” and a vehicle by which to pitch “new initiatives on jobs, taxes, and housing) on your everyday average television broadcast network. If you’re one of the 7-or-so% of individuals who have cut the cord to your cable box and don’t get great reception on those digital bunny ears, you can also watch the State of the Union online.

The major news-oriented cable and broadcast networks – including MSNBC, CBS News, CNN, PBS, and C-SPAN

– will post a livestream of the address on their online outposts, while the White House is offering up its own “enhanced livestream” of the event via its website and presences on various social networks.

Tune into WhiteHouse.gov, the White House’s Facebook page, the White House’s YouTube channel, or the White House’s iPhone application to see a version of the State of the Union of which Eliot Spitzer would approve. In addition to the Obama talking and Congress clapping portion of the address, the “enhanced” State of the Union promises viewers the ability to see “charts, stats, and data that helped inform President Obama’s policy decisions as he delivers his speech to the nation.”

The President is set to go live at 9PM EST. You’ve got a lot of viewing options. Be sure to tune into one (or more) of them.
