Quick Clicks: Rebecca Black Un-Auto-Tuned, ‘Yam Roll’, YouTube View Counts, ‘Epic Meal Time’ w/ FPSRussia

It’s been a little while since we’ve done a Quick Clicks, our round-up of online video news of the day. Thanks to a few readers for pestering reminding us about this semi-regular feature here on Tubefilter. You win, here it is.

Web series and online video news worth clicking today…

Rebecca Black’s Newest Single—Un Auto-Tuned: We should put a warning in front of this one, it’s something not far from shoving acid-dipped Q-Tips into your ears. Break.com had a little fun with “Friday” singer Rebecca Black’s latest single “My Moment” by egregiously turing off the auto-tuning. [Break Originals]

Yam Roll comes to the US on Hulu: Technically, the popular animated comedy series is called The Very Good Adventures of Yam Roll in Happy Kingdom, but most fans call it Yam Roll for short. Hulu (and Hulu Plus) now has all episodes of this 2006 vintage story of an exotic land of sushi and how one of its inhabitants, a super-powered cab driver named Yam Roll, braves monsters and bad guys all in the name of unrequited love. Mercury Men Action figures? We’ve been so caught up in the Comic-Con plans for the upcoming Syfy.com series The Mercury Men, that we almost missed the limited edition line of action figures from TMM team. Check out this one of creator Christopher Preksta, complete with a detachable 16mm film camera. Didn’t he shoot this on the Red? [The Mercury Men]

YouTube Goofed on View Counts. YouTube admitted it had some trouble with its counting of views for thousands of partner channels from July 11 to July 17, after several partners started noticing significantly lower view counts on their Insight pages for those days. “Please be assured that any views not currently updated are still being recorded. We hope to have

any view count discrepancies resolved as soon as possible, but note that it may take a couple of days…All views from the outage period (7/11-7/18) will slowly be added back, however this may take some time and we don’t have an ETA for this at the time being” [YouTube]

Who needs TV syndication deals? Sell to Hulu: Lionsgate’s subsidiary Debmar-Mercury announced today that its hit FOX series Hell’s Kitchen, the one starring celeb chef Gordon Ramsay, inked an exclusive, multi-year digital deal with Hulu covering the previous eight seasons, as well as the current season nine episodes. This follows a similar deal earlier this year, where Lionsgate locked a multiyear digital syndication deal licensing seven seasons of Mad Men for streaming on Netflix. TV syndication is still an option as well of course— Debmar-Mercury retrains TV syndication rights, permitting it to sell off-net episodes of the show to broadcast stations and cable networks—but it does seem to be a strong bet Hulu’s growth. Epic Meal Time Collabs with FPSRussia: YouTube collab videos sometimes leave us wanting, often forced together like a royal marriage in Game of Thrones. But Epic Meal Time’s collab vid (below) today with everyone’s favorite Russian immigrant FPSRussia is anything but. “FPSRussia uses ammo clips, we use bacon bits!” [Epic Meal Time on YouTube]

Michele and Marcus Bachmann on Homosexuality: Tubefilter favorite Erin Gibson is out with another somedy sketch, this time going political in repsonse to Republican Presidential candidate (is she really a front-runner?) Michele Bachmann and her husband Marcus signing the Iowa ‘Marriage Vow’. In the video (below), Mrs. Bachmann put the rumors of their anti-gay therapy clinic to rest. Is it just us or should Erin be on SNL this year? [Funny or Die]
