‘Twilight: Eclipse’ – The 8-Bit Interactive Game Hits The Station

Topical, celeb-driven derivative content is where it’s at right now in terms of cranking out views in online video. And with this weekend’s opening of the latest in the brooding vampire movie saga, Twilight: Eclipse, The Fine Brothers (Benny and Rafi) launched their timely new interactive 8-bit animated video game on YouTube mega-channel The Station today.

The 13-part interactive video series follows Bella and her polyamorous love with Edward and Jacob. Viewers make choices (using YouTube’s nifty annotations feature), choose-your-own-adventure style, at the the end of each video, trying to “survive” the game without dying.

You might recognize the 8-bit styling of Doctor Octoroc, known for his recent 8-bit sendup of Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog

. The Fine Bros., who directed and produced the series, tapped Octoroc for the animation and music after seeing his widely circulated Dr. Horrible game. “It’s a lot of fun, and is the first of a handful of games we will be making,” The Fine Brothers told us.

Given the timing of its release, and it’s distribution through the 800,000-subscriber YouTube channel The Station, we have a feeling this one will do pretty well. There’s even 8-bit Twilight t-shirts for sale already made up for sale.
