Milo Ventimiglia Readies 'Ultradome' Fanboy Faceoff

Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) is teaming up with Agility Studios to create a hosted sci-fi web series, Ultradome, which will attempt to humorously settle long-standing debates in the comic and sci-fi worlds. First up is a faceoff of fanboy favorites Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings, presumably to determine who would win a Darth Vader vs. Gandolf battle or if The Force trumps the Rings of Power and so on.

It’s looking like a hosted series, with two subjects facing off in each episode tasked with questions such as “Should I have a Lord of the Rings– or a Star Wars-themed wedding?,” or “Could Harry Potter beat Neo in a fight?”

Ventimiglia is producing the series through his diVide Pictures outfit and stars in the pilot episode, “Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings.” He will also direct select future episodes of Ultradome, which was co-created with partner Russ Cundiff and Agility execs Keith Quinn and Zev Suissa.

“My whole life has been spent engaged with friends in intellectual debate – like whether Kirk is tougher than Spock or if Middle Earth is a more difficult place to live than Tatooine. With Ultradome, we can bring these debates to the public and settle them in the most logical way possible: through armed combat,” said Ventimiglia. “We’re very excited to be working with Agility on this series and to tap into their expertise in digital programming.”

Though somewhat new to the web series scene, Agility has been making some major deals lately, having  recently announced a mulit-platform dance-themed web series with Jon M. Chu, The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers which is due out later this year with sponsor PUMA on board.

Currently only the pilot episode has been shot, with others set to follow. No word on the official release date yet.
