Apparently the global recession hasn’t eliminated all of the good jobs. The tourism commission of Queensland, Australia is looking to fill the position of “the best job in the world.” And it really is.
Tourism Queensland is looking for a live-in caretaker of “luxurious Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef”, whose duties include documenting their Down Under adventures “via weekly blogs, photo diary, video updates and ongoing media interviews.” If that wasn’t enough to get you to iron your interview outfit, the gig pays $150,000 for the six-month contract.
As you can imagine, the job posting attracted quite a few applicants. More than 34,000 people submitted videos making their case. And out of that massive group, one of our own has made the cut. Cali Lewis, the host of gadget review show Geek Brief TV is on the 50-person short list
where she currently ranks 4th.Though you’d never know it judging by her sparkling smile and perky disposition, Cali is one of the hardest-working people in the business. Since 2005, Cali and her husband/producer Neil have consistently churned out four episodes a week, totaling more than 500 to date, all while maintaining parallel projects like iCali.tv and Dear Cali.
Cali deserves the change of scenery and – like she herself mentions in her nomination video – the girl could benefit from some time outdoors. Tilzy.TV officially endorses Cali Lewis for ‘The Best Job in the World’.
You can vote for Cali once per day through March 24th at http://www.islandreefjob.com/cali.
