'Eric the Trainer' Tucked Away on TheWB.com

Well you can’t argue that the TheWB.com has trouble keeping up with the shifting tastes of the ever changing seasons. There were those spooky Halloween episodes, special Xmas/Holiday greeting cards and now that our post-holiday remorse has kicked our New Year’s resolutions into high gear, they have just the answer. Eric the Trainer: New Year, New You is a new web series launched this week to dish out fitness tips for those of you who cut back on your trainer hours last year.

At first glance, great, another new web series from TheWB that will join the ranks of past staples like Sorority Forever

, Whatever Hollywood and Rich Girl, Poor Girl. But here’s the catch. This one isn’t embeddable (yet) and is being released exclusively on the portal’s official blog, TheWBlog. Exactly, a little odd. How many people even knew they had a blog? But that’s presumably the point. Three new episodes (a three-pack?) will be out every Monday through the end of January.

As hosted informational web series go, this one is up to snuff, with the likable Eric Fleishman keeping it from going gymrat dull. Fleishman is the real deal in terms of fitness and nutrition prowess with over a decade of professional training experience in New York and LA. Celebs seems to love him, with praise from Veronica Mars star Jason Dohring and a recent appearance on The Tyra Banks Show. Something makes me think his “Sleeping Beauty” workout might have helped. It’s “specifically for women who have given up on themselves, don’t like fitness, and would never imagine hiring a personal trainer.”

The nutrition and lifestyle tips are a big part of the show’s whole integrated program approach to getting healthy. Episode 2 has Eric showing Sorority Forever star Annemarie Pazmino how to whip up some tasty natural and healthy meals. Word is he’ll also be working out with other WB.com stars from Rich Girl, Poor Girl and the upcoming Downer’s Grove.

My guess is it won’t be long until they open this series up and set the videos free, since it feels a bit like its riding the bench on the site all tucked away in the closet.
