Stella is Back on Tour. Will They Be Back on the Web?

One of the most wonderful things about MTV’s far too short-lived sketch series The State is that it begat Stella. I love Stella. Michael Ian Black, David Wain, and Michael Showalter are my comedy catnip. Sometimes, when Wain and I are hanging out, I even pretend I’m Black. The guys just love it when I do that.

To accompany the group on their recently announced Winter ’08 Tour, Stella will create at least one short to screen in 10 major US cities and on the web at My Damn Channel. Here’s a tease:

In the last few years, a Stella fix could only come one member at a time, either by way of Wain’s escapades of “frustrated romance and absurd heartbreak” in Wainy Days or with the Charlie Rose for the cool kid’s comedy sceneThe Michael Showalter’s Showalter.

You could also relive happy times when the group produced content together by watching Stella Shorts

– a collection of videos from 1998 to 2004 that Black, Wain, and Showalter made for their stage shows, but also made their way to the web. Here’s one:

Hopefully there will be some new ones soon. Yes, the trio plans to create only one more short for now, but given Wain’s healthy relationship with both online entertainment and My Damn Channel, I wouldn’t be surprised if Stella launches a full blown series in the near future.

Color me over excited, but first Kurt Loder and now this? All my most favorite childhood personalities are resurfacing inside the same domain name. For the “Childrens of the ’80’s” demo, I’m pretty sure My Damn Channel is winning web video.
