BabyBillion ranked #1 in the Global Top 50 for the second week in a row, and this time around, it nearly got twice as many weekly views as any other YouTube channel. With 2.16 billion weekly views, BabyBillion took advantage of the massive preschool-age audience that hangs out on YouTube Shorts.

That kiddie community also tied into one of the biggest pop culture events on the calendar. This chart covers the week that ended with Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony, and one of the night’s big winners has strong ties to YouTube Shorts and other similar platforms.
YouTube Shorts and the Academy agree on the year’s best animated feature
I’m talking, of course, about KPop Demon Hunters. The saga of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey picked up two statuettes at the 2026 Oscars ceremony: It was chosen as the Best Animated Feature, and its inescapable single “Golden” claimed the title of Best Original Song.
Both of those wins had been predicted for months, but you didn’t have to be a film buff to figure out that KPop Demon Hunters was going to do well during awards season. All you needed to do was visit YouTube Shorts.
That’s where, for months, dozens of channels have cracked our Top 50 charts by uploading videos inspired by the film that made Huntr/x into a household name. Those creators’ allusions to KPop Demon Hunters are simplistic — we’re talking yellow jackets, purple hair dye, and pop hits playing in the background — but the resulting traffic has been extraordinary.
This week, GiggleGalaxyTV is one of the channels taking advantage of the KPop Demon Hunters bump. By harnessing the appeal of the film’s characters (but mostly just Rumi and her rival-turned-friend Jinu), GiggleGalaxyTV picked up 481.4 million weekly views. That was good for a 44% week-over-week increase that moved the channel from 61st place in our viewership ranking up to 22nd.
Channels like this one present an interesting “chicken or egg” situation. Which came first: The global phenomenon that is KPop Demon Hunters, or the YouTube videos that celebrate the film’s characters, storylines, and musical tracks?
The obvious answer is that the film’s positive reception made it a YouTube favorite. The first wave of tie-in videos arrived shortly after the film’s release last summer. Since then, whenever KPop Demon Hunters has been in the news, the dress-up Rumies on YouTube Shorts have been surging.
Funny Brothers offers a perfect example of that correlation. It’s one of the top KPop Demon Hunters sketch comedy accounts, and it broke out of a relative lull this week. As the Oscars ceremony arrived, Funny Brothers made it all the way up to second place in the Global Top 50.
Even if this chart paints a clear picture, we can’t ignore how crucial these YouTube videos have been within the KPop Demon Hunters phenomenon. After all, there aren’t nearly as many Zootopia 2 or Elio fan edits out there. If KPop‘s creative team brought their movie to the forefront of pop culture, the fans ensured that it stayed there.
Here’s another way to put it: If the Academy won’t give the “Golden” songwriters more than a few seconds to accept their award, channels like Funny Brothers will ensure that the win is celebrated for years to come.
