Tribeca Festival’s Creator Economy programming promotes digital voices who are “up next”

The Tribeca Festival is deepening its creator-oriented slate for the 2025 edition of its annual gathering. Highlights on the Tribeca Creator Economy vertical will include a showcase of social media creators who are “UP NEXT,” as well as a conversation with the TikToker and podcaster Tinx.

For the second year in a row, Tribeca’s partner for its Creator Economy vertical is Whalar Group. The multifaceted company, which just secured a strategic investment from backers like Salesforce’s Marc Benioff, will bring its creator-related expertise to the Downtown Manhattan festival.

One piece of programming backed by Whalar is a June 9 conversation with Tinx, which will take place at the Crosby Street Hotel. The host of the It’s Me, Tinx podcast will dish on a wide range of topics, including comedy content, pop culture, and dating.

For more than a decade, the Tribeca Festival has offered a canvas for creators who display their artistry on social media. That initiative dates back to the days of Vine, when Tribeca hosted a competition for six-second films. As creators pursued more expansive projects, Tribeca continued to support them. Creators affiliated with the multi-channel network Maker Studios once premiered work at the festival, and a 2016 partnership with actor Josh Hutcherson brought more digital-native content to attendees.

These days, Tribeca is still eager to champion creators who bring cutting-edge material to their subscribers. The members of the UP NEXT cohort will screen their passion projects at a one-off live event that will take place at the AMC 19th Street East 6 theater on June 12. The creators in that group are Ari at HomeChristina YoungCoco MocoeDanny CortezEric JengLauren WPatrick HicksPublic OpinionSpencer LackeyStef Dag, and Walker Ward.

“The UP NEXT Creators program is our way of recognizing the incredible innovation happening in the creator economy,” said Tribeca Festival Senior Programmer Jarod Neece in a statement. “These creators are pioneering new forms of cultural storytelling—and just like the filmmakers and artists Tribeca has always championed, they deserve a spotlight.”
