The #1 channel in the Global Top 50 maintained its lead over the field while moving closer to a ten-digit weekly view count. T-Series, the channel with the most all-time views on YouTube, also led that category on a weekly basis after it collected 930.4 million weekly views. Though T-Series was also #1 last week, its traffic rose by 19% week-over-week.

Given the new policy for public view counts on YouTube, one would think that other channels are surging forward to join T-Series near the billion-view threshold. The truth, however, is a bit more complex.
Are YouTube’s “first frame” view counts already settling in?
Last month, YouTube hit its creator community with a big reveal: Moving forward, public views will be counted from the first frame. That policy shift is meant to increase viewership by design. YouTube hopes that, by making the numbers go up, it can assist creators as they negotiate with brands.
For some creators in YouTube’s middle class, the first frame policy is bringing significant changes. Agentio recently reported that YouTube’s inflated viewcounts are overstating actual engagement by approximately 40%.
Those findings make our latest Global Top 50 results that much more curious. On the whole, among YouTube’s top channels, there hasn’t been a widespread viewership bump. Three channels in this week’s worldwide top ten actually saw their traffic totals go down week-over-week.
The overall stagnancy in the Global Top 50 is the opposite of what we’d expect. The last time YouTube relaxed view-counting standards was in March 2025, when the amount of watch time required for a public Shorts view was drastically reduced. We soon saw multiple channels with billions of weekly views in the Global Top 50.
Here’s one hypothesis: After the last view-counting change, YouTube’s top channels already maximized their viewership. Even after the first frame update, there’s not much new viewership to be had among channels that have already achieved deep saturation within specific communities.
Many of the channels that have unlocked unbeatable YouTube viewership numbers are broadcasting from South Asia. In the new era of view count, those hubs continue to dominate. 27 channels in the Global Top 50 are based in India, and three more are based in Pakistan. That’s 60% of the chart right there, and some of those channels — like Pakistan’s Shero Bhai, use as many quick cuts as they need to keep viewers watching well beyond the first frame.
When we look at the viewership graph for Shero Bhai, we see a channel that moves up and down as YouTube adjusts it counting methods. The platform has become more liberal with the definition of a public view, but has also closely audited the viewership received by top channels. That could explain why Shero Bhai’s uneven graph looks the way it does:

Even when we acknowledge that there is a lot of noise in the way YouTube counts views, the policy update seems to be having a noticeable effect. Shero Bhai is over 300 million weekly views for only the second time this year.
We’ll keep an eye on the overall Global Top 50 view counts over the coming months. In previous years, we’ve had several channels with one billion weekly views at the same time. Will first frame rules bring us back to that ecosystem, or are YouTube’s top channels already at peak saturation?

- India: 27
- United States: 8
- Canada and Pakistan: 3
- Indonesia: 2
- Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, China, South Korea, and Spain: 1
This week, 37 channels in the Top 50 are primarily active on YouTube Shorts.
