During the second full week of May, MrBeast solidified his position at the front of the Global Top 50. The owner of YouTube’s most-subscribed channel is also getting more weekly views than any other creator. A sum of 1.42 billion weekly views was big enough to push MrBeast’s lifetime viewership past 122 billion — and that’s just on his main YouTube channel.

Only one other channel got at least one billion weekly views during the second week of May, but all of the Top 50 channels were heavy hitters. Inclusion in the Global Top 50 required at least 375 million weekly views, and one country produced more charting channels than the rest of the world combined.
YouTube’s most popular movie clips are all in the family
India’s chart dominance shows no signs of slowing down. 27 of the channels in our Global Top 50 chart hail from the world’s most populous nation. It’s the second week in a row that more than half of the chart entrants are of Indian origin.
Last week, we cited the war in Iran as one of the causes of this phenomenon. There is a ton of activity on regional Indian news hubs that are tied to specific languages and dialects.
That doesn’t tell the whole story. India’s family channels are just as powerful of a force as the country’s news industry, and those kid-friendly hubs have discovered a new type of distribution: Some of them are becoming film clip hubs.
Matured Women Words is a channel with an unusual title and a deep short-form library that displays some common traits for Indian family channels. South Asian kidfluencers often refer to nuclear gender roles, with videos describing motherly, fatherly, brotherly, and sisterly behaviors often cracking the Top 50.
The most popular film clips shared via Matured Women Words comment on those gender roles. Millions of viewers are drawn to scenes that consider the authority of elders and the safety of women in their own homes. Dependable wives are another popular theme among the Matured Women Words audience. Their roles as mothers is explored on many family channels, but they get a more personal examination here.
Combining two popular themes from the YouTube Shorts community — family roles and popular movies — is a surefire formula for success. By getting 451.4 million weekly views, Matured Women Words made its first appearance in the Global Top 50. It reached 33rd place after getting more than twice as many weekly views compared to its previous seven-day total.
Family channels have caught on in the West as well, with 9th-place finisher Sierra And Rhia English providing an example of a high-riser from that category. Those creators also have an opportunity to distribute family-friendly film clips to eager viewers, because the most popular family movies at the Hollywood box office have become short-form gold.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie dominated our charts when it hit theaters last month, and it is still having an impact on our global rankings. A channel that simply goes by the name Super Mario has been one of the biggest gainers of 2026. Even though it wasn’t around at the start of the year, it is now sitting in 18th place in the Global Top 50.
Rights agreements make it difficult for channels like this to ever distribute film clips the way Matured Women Words does. It’s hard to imagine Hollywood studios ever ceding so much power to independent creators.
Maybe, however, if the influence of creators continues to grow in the film industry, those winds could shift. Perhaps, one day, YouTube channels will explore the family themes in current-day blockbusters. Until then, creators who want to comment on family roles in Hollywood will have to rely on their Mario and Luigi costumes.
