CAA taps longtime creator operative Brent Weinstein to “lead multiple business areas”

A creator economy executive with more than a decade of experience under his belt is heading to one of the big three talent agencies. Brent Weinstein, who served as the longtime Head of Digital at UTA before moving on to deep-pocketed holding company Candle Media, is now joining CAA in an expansive role that will span several of the agency’s divisions.

As a member of CAA’s senior leadership team, Weinstein will oversee operations in “multiple business areas,” according to a press release shared by the Los Angeles-based agency. In addition to steering strategy in categories like Digital Media, Podcasts, Games, and Talent Business Ventures, Weinstein will have a say in CAA’s investment activity as well as its mergers and acquisitions. He will also co-manage CAA’s Intell data team alongside the Technology division.

That’s a lot of work for one man, but Weinstein has a proven track record as an agent, executive, and business developer. At UTA, he rose up the ranks by championing innovation in the field of digital talent representation. During his time at UTA, the agency became one of the first companies to work with creators to build offline businesses in industries like publishing and fintech.

After building UTA’s digital division from the ground up across a tenure that lasted nearly two decades, Weinstein went to Candle Media in 2022. He played a pivotal role as the parent of properties like Moonbug and Hello Sunshine looked to connect its digital businesses to real-world commerce.

In a statement, CAA President Jim Burtson called Weinstein an “outstanding agent” whose “tremendous track record” makes him an “outstanding match” for his new employer. “CAA sits uniquely and powerfully at the intersection of entertainment, sports, culture and technology, with a global reputation for excellence and an unmatched understanding of where audiences and consumers are heading,” added Weinstein. “It’s an honor to become part of CAA and its incredible culture, and to work alongside some of the most creative and pioneering agents and executives in the industry, as we collectively work to create new opportunities for the world’s leading creators and companies.”

Though Weinstein’s role at CAA is expected to stretch beyond the world of digital creators, he will also get the chance to build new business ventures alongside a deep roster of internet-famous clients. Influencers repped by CAA include Reesa Teesa, who is adapting her TikTok series Who TF Did I Marry? into a scripted show, and iShowSpeed, who has embarked on a massive world tour. With Weinstein on board, CAA clients will surely get more opportunities to pursue exciting new projects.
