Cristiano Ronaldo wants to bring his 636 million Instagram followers to YouTube

Cristiano Ronaldo is inviting his world-beating social following to join him on a new YouTube channel. The legendary soccer star has launched UR Cristiano, a channel that will offer snippets of his life off the pitch.

In its first few days of activity, Ronaldo’s YouTube channel has already delivered more than a dozen videos that draft off various content trends. There are original programs (like This or That, which expresses Ronaldo’s preferences within various subjects), couple videos featuring Ronaldo’s partner Georgina, and challenges between the Portuguese superstar and his son.

The channel also offers some Shorts. In one, Ronaldo discusses the name of his channel, which he pronounces like “you are Ronaldo.” Wish fulfillment, indeed.

Since breaking out on the soccer scene nearly two decades ago, Ronaldo has maintained a strong presence across major social platforms. Most notably, he is the most-followed individual on Instagram, where his official account reaches 636 million followers.

Will Ronaldo be able to convert those followers into “siuubscribers“? The current YouTube climate suggests that Ronaldo’s arrival on the scene is well-timed. As creators take stakes in Premier League clubs, soccer channels like Celine Dept and AG Soccer Team are pulling in enough views to rank among the 50 most-watched channels on YouTube.

For 39-year-old Ronaldo, an active YouTube channel can also serve as a pathway to a career in media. Sports stars like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Bryson DeChambeau have snagged millions of YouTube views by blending their unique perspectives with methodical approaches inspired by top creators.

Ronaldo has already shown that he has everything it takes to become YouTube’s top athlete-turned-creator. At the time of this post, UR Cristiano already has more than seven million subscribers, even though it has only been active for a single day.

“I am very happy to make this project come to life,” Ronaldo said in a statement. “It has been in my mind for a long time but finally we have the opportunity to make it real. I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so and they will learn more about me, my family, and my views on many different subjects. I am also looking forward to sharing conversations with guests that will no doubt surprise people!”

There’s one particular guest who seems like a perfect fit for Ronaldo’s YouTube channel. The streamer iShowSpeed has long been a fan of the Portuguese striker, and in his reaction to the new channel, he predicted big things for his idol. He believes Ronaldo can surpass MrBeast to become the most-subscribed creator on YouTube, and he hopes that CR7 will invite him over for a collab.

With the way UR Cristiano is growing, creators like Speed may soon find themselves in Ronaldo’s rearview mirror. A live tracker is following UR Cristiano’s susbcriber count as it gains on Speed’s, and when Ronaldo surpasses his fan, I think we know how he’ll celebrate.
