Marques Brownlee joins AI-based “community engagement engine” for creators

Glystn, a self-described “community engagement engine” that uses AI to collect data from across platforms like YouTube and present it to creators in one unified dashboard, has brought on Marques Brownlee as an advisor.

Brownlee, whose techy YouTube channel MKBHD has 18 million subscribers, was an early pilot tester for Glystn, which was founded in 2021 and recently raised a $4 million seed round from Eniac Ventures, Precursor Ventures, Hannah Grey VC, and Future Perfect Ventures.

His feedback–along with feedback from other creators–sparked the development of three new features Glystn is introducing today alongside announcing his advisor role:

  • Community Listening, which Glystn says will give “insights about what conversations other creator communities are having, as well as new content ideas they might like from sponsors or products”
  • Content Feedback and Ideation, which is “clear AI-summarized feedback, synthesized from comments and sentiment along with actionable new content recommendations to create content that moves the needle”
  • and Sentiment Analysis, which Glystn says will provide insights about “the emotional tone of content and community interactions”

Brownlee says Glystn “has been a level-up for our team, giving us the confidence to plan a content pipeline that we know will resonate with our community.”

He adds, “It is a great tool for learning about my own audience, but also lets us unlock deep insights about other creator communities and trends we want to know more about. Glystn’s AI solution is opening a new level of value in the creator economy, and we’re excited to be part of the advisory team.”

Ethan Fassett, Glystn’s co-founder and CEO, says the company is introducing new features because the pressure is on for creators to “maintain a multi-platform community presence.”

Glystn is also bringing in a handful of other advisors, including the MKBHD team’s head of creative projects Jono Tan; Jessica Ettman, former head of business development at 3BLACKDOT, Group Nine, and JASH, and former general counsel at Maker Studios; Brendan Gahan, a partner at Mekanism and VidCon advisory board member; and Matthew Eisner, head of product and growth at Dinari and founder/managing director of Vang Group.
