Twitch brings back “the most rewarding time of the year” with SUBtember discounts

Christmas may be branded as the most wonderful time of the year, but for Twitch, the gift-giving spirit begins about three months earlier. The Amazon-owned platform is bringing back SUBtember, a 30-day promotion that offers discounted deals on its subscriptions.

Each year since 2017, Twitch has established September as the perfect time to support beloved streamers and creators. This year’s deals include double-digit discounts on some of the most popular subscriptions Twitch offers. Buyers can get 25% off one-month subs and three-month subs. For six-month subs, the discount goes up to 30%.

The SUBtember discount also applies to subs that are gifted to other Twitch viewers. In those cases, the buyer receives a 25% discount across the board. Super fans of the streaming platform can also take 20% off purchases made through the merch hub known as the Twitch Cave.

“This year, the more you sub the more you save on things like exclusive emotes, Chat badges, and Channel Points multipliers,” reads an introductory SUBtember post from Twitch. “Plus, you’ll get more of what you already love like epic moments in Chat, lulz, being a part of your favorite community, and more.”

Last year’s SUBtember promotion arrived amidst controversial changes to the platform’s revenue-sharing policy. After changing the proportion of income creators receive, Twitch gave some streamers the option to return to a 70-30 split by launching Partner Plus. That program has been weaved into this year’s SUBtember. All purchased subscriptions will deliver Partner Plus points to creators before the service officially goes live in October.

The SUBtember discounts are only applicable on web-based purchases. They are applied during the specified windows and don’t carry over after renewals. Existing subscribers and Twitch Prime members must take extra steps in order to secure SUBtember savings. More details about those cases can be found via an FAQ page.

SUBtember begins at 1 AM ET on September 1. The promotion will be active until the clock strikes midnight on October 1.
