Kai Cenat invokes ‘Rush Hour’ with action-comedy film ‘Global Pursuit’

Kai Cenat is using his YouTube channel to showcase his action chops. The streaming superstar has premiered Global Pursuita short film inspired by the action-comedy franchise Rush Hour.

Global Pursuit features solid production values, dozens of crew members, and cameo appearances — even though it was filmed in just three days, according to its star. Cenat met Global Pursuit co-star Ray H during a trip to Japan, and the pair became fast friends. They soon embarked on a filmmaking project together. The trailer for Global Pursuit hit Cenat’s YouTube channel on August 23, and the full 17-minute film dropped two days later.

Once the Global Pursuit trailer was released, it didn’t take long before streamers like BiigWes noticed similarities between the project and Rush HourKai and Ray put a contemporary twist on Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan’s chemistry while fighting bad guys and jamming to the Edwin Starr song “War”.

“I’m Glad To Say My Official First Short Film Inspired By Rush Hour Is Finally OUT,” Cenat wrote on X. “From Meeting A Kid From Asia To Hurrying And Filming This Is 3 DAYS…I Love all Of You.”

This sort of project is a departure for Cenat. Though the Twitch record-breaker is known for his loose streaming style is becoming familiar with pre-produced material. He has The Kai ‘N’ Speed Show on Rumble alongside fellow entertainer IShowSpeed, and he turned his iconic Twitch sub-a-thon into a YouTube documentary.

Cenat’s creative endeavors will help him focus attention away from his recent brush with controversy. He was held responsible for a riot that broke out during one of his meetups in his hometown of New York City.

A transition into film roles has emerged as one of Cenat’s top priorities. During a recent conversation with rapper Lil Yachty (who appears in Global Pursuit), Cenat revealed that a move to Hollywood is his end goal for his career. In his short film, the Bronx native shows that he has some serious acting chops. Given his current star status, he probably won’t have to wait long before the studios come calling.
