One thing is clear from YouTube‘s latest ad leaderboard: Over the last 12 months, streaming services have put out some banger ads.
Each year, just in time for Cannes‘ International Festival of Creativity honoring top advertisers, YouTube releases a list of most-viewed advertisements across its platform. This year (June 2022-May 2023), Netflix took the No. 1 spot with a Wednesday ad that’s snatched up 38 million views to date.
HBO Max (er, just Max now, for some reason) also made the list. Its first full-length trailer for much-anticipated video game adaptation The Last of Us is in fourth place with 24 million views to date.
And slot No. 9 goes to Peacock, with the first-ever YouTube Short to make the list. Its 19-second ad featuring Kevin Hart taking shots at Mark Wahlberg‘s age got more than 8 million views in the measurement period.
Some usual suspects also made the leaderboard: Apple, with 26 million views for its ad introducing the iPhone 14 Pro; Samsung
, with 23 million views for its Galaxy S23 Ultra ad; and Burger King with 9.3 million for its “Whopper Whopper” commercial from November 2022.You can see this year’s complete list below.
