That channel supplanted one of its compatriots, which had occupied the #1 spot in the Global Top 50 throughout July. In just a week, the entire running order of our worldwide top ten has been rewritten.
Chart Toppers
Say hello to SET India, your new worldwide #1. Due to the way we tabulate views, the Indian TV hub isn’t always eligible for the Global Top 50, but when it is, it’s a force to be reckoned with. Over our latest seven-day measurement period, SET India received 640.9 million weekly views, which pushed it past a different Indian channel and into the top spot in our global ranking. The Sony-owned hub has also crossed 125 billion lifetime views, so all in all, it had itself a pretty good week.
T-Series fell out of the top spot this week, but it didn’t fall far. The India-based record label continues to be a power player in the South Asian music industry, and its 559.6 million weekly views gave it enough traffic to secure the #2 spot in our Global Top 50. Thanks to its latest burst of viewership, T-Series has now received more than 198 billion lifetime views on YouTube.
The highest-ranking U.S.-based channel in our Global Top 50 is Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, which wound up in the #3 position after hauling in 497.2 million weekly views. The California-based creator of animations and jingles is a Top 50 stalwart, and it’s finding ways to connect with its young audience in an offline setting. The brand is set to begin a sweeping tour of the U.S. that will run through the fall.
The #4 channel in our global chart is closing in on 100 million subscribers, but before it reaches that milestone, it can celebrate another strong week on YouTube. Kids Diana Show went big by scoring 468.4 million views during the week that was. Though it fell one spot in our worldwide ranking, the family vlog was able to keep pace with the other kid-friendly channels near the top of the pack.
Sony-owned channels bookended this issue of the Global Top 50. SET India took first place, and the #5 spot went to Sony SAB, which tallied 414.7 million weekly views from among its predominantly-Indian audience.
Top Gainers
Dednahype is a grandpa who’s got it all.
The funnyman has became one of the oldest stars on TikTok, and he gets to hang out with his grandkids while he films his videos. The typical Dednahype clip features a right-versus-wrong setup in which a moralistic lesson is learned and a bad guy gets his just desserts. It’s simple stuff, which is probably why it’s become popular with audiences of all ages.
Not content with conquering TikTok, Dednahype has also become a regular presence in our Global Top 50. His Latvia-based YouTube channel moves into and out of our rankings, but even when he doesn’t break the Top 50, he still registers big numbers. A school-set video uploaded late last year continues to be a big hit for its creator; it has brought more than 681 million views to the Dednahype channel thus far.
During the first full week of August, Dednahype had one of his best-ever performances on YouTube Shorts. By snagging 243.9 million weekly views, he was able to increase his viewership by 33% week-over-week. By topping out in 27th place in the Global Top 50, Dednahype became the highest-ranking creator from Eastern Europe in this week’s chart. That’s the sort of internet success that can make you feel young again.
