Chess streamers Alexandra and Andrea Botez make a move with CAA

Chess-playing sisters Alexandra and Andrea Botez have signed with Creative Artists Agency.

Alexandra, who’s 26, is a five-time Canadian National Girls Champion who won the U.S. Girls Nationals when she was 15. Andrea, who’s 20, has won the U8 Girls Canadian Youth Chess Championship, the Susan Polgar National Open, and in 2015 was named women’s chess champion by the British Columbia Chess Federation.

Alexandra began streaming on Twitch in 2016, and now the sisters together manage the chess-focused channel Botez Live, where they have 1.1 million followers.

They also conceptualized and host Botez Abroad, a Twitch Original travel show that scopes international chess spots. It has generated 20 million views to date and reached peak livestream viewership of 36,000 people.

Alexandra and Andrea both joined Dallas-based esports org Team Envy in 2021 as members of its content creator roster.

A CAA representative tells Tubefilter the sisters are “true visionaries” who “have been at the forefront of growth, awareness, and inclusion as the timeless game becomes more mainstream.”

The agency will work with Alexandra and Andrea on development of original content, new IP ventures, and “strategic growth across platforms and talent,” the rep says.
