Wheelhouse opens 10,000-square foot “social and creative hub for digital talent”

Wheelhouse DNA‘s new home base is open for business. The entertainment unit, which gets its name from its status as the “digital and audio” wing of production company Wheelhouse, has set up shop at Wheelhouse on Sunset, a 10,496-square foot space located in the heart of West Hollywood.

The new building will serve as the headquarters of Wheelhouse DNA, but it will double as a production facility and a gathering point for the studio’s creative partners. A press release describes Wheelhouse on Sunset as “a social and creative hub for digital talent,” which makes it sound similar to the YouTube Spaces that popped up across the world in the 2010s.

Wheelhouse on Sunset is also similar to the YouTube Spaces in terms of its design. The WeHo locus sports a stylish and artful look, so its rooms can be used as filming locations when they’re not being occupied for social functions. Or, for those who prefer a more traditional approach to production, Wheelhouse DNA’s HQ is also outfitted with two podcast studios, a green-screen studio, and editing bays.

The new space signifies the

evolving nature of the Wheelhouse DNA unit. Initially, its focus was on production, which resulted in shows like the Facebook series Cookin’ with Brooklyn. Though Wheelhouse DNA still functions as a digital studio, it is now pulling double duty as a management company, thanks to the launch of the in-house firm Additive Creative. Events at Wheelhouse on Sunset will be able to strengthen connections among the digital-native creators who work with Wheelhouse.

“Part of the Wheelhouse mission is to coalesce content, talent, brands, entrepreneurs and investors, while bringing together talented people across backgrounds and industries to share ideas and turn concepts into reality,” said Wheelhouse Chief Strategy Officer Ed Simpson in a statement. “Wheelhouse on Sunset will serve as the hub for a new generation of content, and we look forward to hosting all types of talent at our new creative playground.”

The first event that will take place at Wheelhouse on Sunset will be the facility’s official launch this week. The list of invitees includes a number of Wheelhouse’s high-profile “clients and friends,” who will be sure to rub shoulders at the gala.
