Since its first episode arrived on YouTube in 2017, Chicken Girls has become a flagship program for its producer, Brat TV. The high school drama has grown into a multi-platform franchise, spawning a movie, books, and a companion podcast. Now, the show is getting its college degree.
Mads Lewis and Indiana Massara — two of the actors who have gained influence after appearing in Brat TV’s signature series — will lead Chicken Girls: The College Years, which will be the first installment in the Chicken Girls franchise to center on university students. Both Lewis and Massara will reprise the roles they originated, with the former actress starring as Birdie and the latter portraying Rooney.
One of the main themes of Chicken Girls is the transition between middle school and high school, which forces teens to adapt to a new environment. The College Years will update that conceit for its university setting, with Birdie and Rooney navigating their first years on campus. In doing so, they’ll form their own groups of “chicken girls,” which will give Brat TV the opportunity to introduce more young talent to the world.

in a statement. “Fans who grew up with the original Chicken Girls series will finally get to see the new adventures that await two of our universe’s most beloved characters.”Thanks in part to their appearances on Chicken Girls, both Lewis and Massara have attracted millions of followers on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Massara also co-hosts Attaway Appeal alongside Jules LeBlanc, another Chicken Girls cast member who struck it big after working with Brat TV.
Chicken Girls has now run for nine seasons, not counting its various spinoffs. Though it has had a longer run than any other Brat TV program, its popularity has not abated. The first episode of season nine, which arrived on YouTube last October, has received nearly three million views to date.
Like the original show, The College Years will be distributed through Brat TV’s YouTube channel, which reaches more than five million subscribers. The first episode of the spinoff is due out on August 2, and the main series is expected to return for a tenth season “next spring.”
