Noah Beck is starring in a Wattpad movie

Noah Beck has signed on to bring a Wattpad story to the big screen.

Beck, a Sway House TikToker with 32.8 million followers, will star in and produce The QB Bad Boy and Me, a football romance movie based on the Wattpad-published story of the same name by author Tay Marley.

According to the film’s official description, Beck will play star high school quarterback Drayton Lahey, who inconveniently pops up in main character Dallas Bryan’s life right as she’s shooting for a dance scholarship at CalArts.

Wattpad says the digital version of Marley’s story has more than 30 million reads on its platform, and that the published novel version—released in 2019—is one of its top-selling books. (It didn’t give a specific figure for number of copies sold.)

Wattpad Webtoon Studios, the entity created in January 2021 when Webtoon’s parent Naver acquired Wattpad for $600 million, will produce the film alongside Creator+, which describes itself as “a new content studio and distribution platform for digital-first storytellers and creators.”

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with this incredible team and am honored to bring Tay’s beloved story and characters to life,” Beck said in a statement. “I can’t wait to get to work and to dive in on all creative aspects of the film.”

Though this is Beck’s first star acting role, it’s not his first time producing, nor his first time onscreen. He currently produces and stars in the Paramount/Awesomeness series Noah Beck Tries Things, and recently had a guest role in Nickelodeon’s comedy series Side Hustle.

“Noah’s rabid audience combined with QB’s proven readership create the perfect storm for a film adaptation,” Adam Wescott, head of studio for Creator+, said. “We’re excited for this playful and sweet YA comedy to come to life.”

Wattpad has produced several other films and TV series based on popular stories, including Awesomeness’ Light as a Feather. Creator+, meanwhile, is planning a summer 2022 release for Diamond in the Rough, a comedy film starring Beck’s fellow Sway House member Griffin Johnson.
