CoComelon Is Getting into Podcasts

CoComelon is storming Spotify, launching its first-ever podcast venture there as part of an exclusive, multi-year deal with parent company Moonbug – which was recently acquired by Candle Media for a cool $3 billion.

CoComelon Story Time is an interactive storytelling series comprising classic fairy tales, global folklore, and expanded nursery rhymes hosted by characters JJ and Cody. Story Time is available in five languages: English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.

The show lives on the main Spotify app in the ‘Family and Kids’ hub, and on the standalone Spotify Kids app, exclusively for premium subscribers. (Spotify launched its kids’ app in Feb. 2020, with subscriptions priced at $16 per month).

Forthcoming shows from Spotify’s Moonbug partnership include Gardenkeeper Gus (a quiet and contemplative series for preschoolers), 100 Cinderellas (an anthology series of Cinderella stories from around the world), and underwater-themed Deep Blue Sea.

“This is a major win for us as we continue to expand the scope of our podcast ambitions and help to drive the exponential growth of the audio industry,” stated Max Cutler, Spotify’s head of new content initiatives. “With their popularity and Spotify’s ability to distribute and amplify it in the audio space, the potential for the show’s reach is limitless.”
