YouTube Is Rolling Out A Slew Of Originals In The Next Couple Months

YouTube laid out its ambitious programming plans for the remainder of 2022 and beyond at its Television Critics Association (TCA) session this week, providing more color on the previously-announced performance docuseries Noted: Alicia Keys The Untold Stories, as well as introducing The Outsiders? — a six-part docuseries about the Black experience as told through prominent actors, musicians, and creators.

Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s global head of original content, also unveiled Dear Earth, a multi-hour environmental special featuring President Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Billie Eilish, BlackPink, SpongeBob SquarePants, and native YouTubers like ASAPScience, Brave Wilderness, Bretman Rock, Dream, and Jack Harries.

Dear Earth will follow a similar format to YouTube’s graduation stream Dear Class Of 2020 — comprising keynote addresses, musical performances, special appearances, and comedic shorts — this time aimed at promoting sustainability.

Premiering on Oct. 23, Dear Earth will help kick off other environmentally-minded content, including Signals (Oct. 28), a live-action and animated mash-up chronicling our planet’s relationship with plastics; and Climate Games

(Oct. 23),which will see creators and athletes taking on challenges that highlight global warming themes.

Other upcoming originals include: the feature doc Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of Wildflowers, premiering later this year; preschool series Tab Time with vegan influencer Tabitha Brown (pictured above), also arriving later this year; Supreme Models (fall 2022), exploring the contributions of Black models, designers and editors to fashion and society; and Copy That, asking four YouTube creators (Sofie Dossi, Luhhsetty, Rosanna Pansino, and Preston) to attempt to copy their fellow creators’ area of expertise. Copy That arrives on Nov. 8.

YouTube also said that the third iteration of MrBeast’s Creator Games will feature a lucrative game of hide-and-seek, premiering in December. Instant Influencer With ZHC and the third and final season of Liza On Demand will bow in the fall.
