OnlyFans Launches Creative Fund, Will Award $20,000 To 4 U.K. Musicians

Subscription platform OnlyFans has launched a creative fund that will give four fledgling music artists in the U.K. $20,000 each plus consultations with industry professionals.

“The creative community has suffered during the pandemic and OnlyFans wants to give music artists the opportunity to hone their skills and launch their work,” the platform–which rose to popularity as a destination for sex workers and NSFW content creators to vend things like photos and art–says.

OnlyFans adds that it’s focusing the fund’s inaugural year on musicians because “with so many music artists including Cardi B, Jermaine Dupri, Franc Moody, and many more joining the site, OnlyFans wants to support up-and-coming artists in the creative community.”

To enter for a chance to receive one of 2021’s four $20,000 grants, musicians must make a 90-second video that introduces them and shows off one of their songs. Entrants must reside in the U.K. and submit their videos by April 13.

Submitted videos will be judged by OnlyFans’ CEO, Tim Stokely, as well as actress and singer Suki Waterhouse, DJ/producer Joe Goddard, rapper/singer/songwriter Stefflon Don, and Henry Holland, founder of fashion brand House of Holland.

“Music is an industry you have to work incredibly hard at anyway and with live gigs off the table it’s been tougher than ever,” Don told the Independent. “My hope is this gives musicians inspiration or a channel to earn a wage. For the winners who will get the grant, I’m excited to see their possibilities in the industry and see the entries.”
