Lilly Singh, Liza Koshy, More To Host Instagram Live Fundraisers For ‘Giving Tuesday’

Instagram is going all out for Giving Tuesday, enabling high-profile creators to harness two key charitable tools to support small businesses and nonprofits alike.

Lilly Singh and Liza Koshy will both utilize the Live Donations tool today, Instagram says, which allows anyone to broadcast a fundraiser — with 100% of all funds raised going directly to the nonprofit of their choosing. Singh will be broadcasting with the actress Charlize Theron to raise funds for Theron’s Africa Outreach Program, which fights HIV, while Koshy will be campaigning for the Equal Justice Initiative, which works to end mass incarceration and racial inequality.

The Live Donations tool also enables creator to see how many people are supporting a fundraiser, and clocks donations in real-time, per Instagram.

The platform also offers a Donation Sticker feature, which can be shared in Instagram Stories to drive nonprofit donations. While Donation Stickers were introduced last year, the platform unveiled Live Donations in April in the wake of the COVID pandemic, as countless creators were hosting unofficial fundraising streams.

Other creators going live on Instagram in honor of Giving Tuesday include: Nia Sioux (for the Chloe and Maud Foundation), Alok V. Menon (who will read poems for the Transgender Law Center), Ryan Shazier (for his eponymous Fund For Spinal Rehab), Devon Lévesque (Fitops Foundation), Mark Kanemura, Bunny Michael, and Cristian Dennis (The Trevor Project), Jon Batiste (Son Of A Saint), Sienna Mae Gomez (Teen Line), and The Shade Room (Peace4Kids).
