Josh Gad To Reunite Casts Of Classic Films On Just-Launched YouTube Channel

Comedic actor Josh Gad, perhaps best known for voicing snowman sidekick Olaf in Disney’s Frozen franchise — as well as his appearance as LeFou in Disney’s live-action Beauty And The Beast feature — is the latest celebrity to launch a YouTube channel in quarantine.

In the same way that John Krasinski’s nascent YouTube venture touts a compelling premise — focusing on the positive news of the day — Gad will similarly stick to a theme. Dubbed Reunited Apart, the channel will see Gad reunite some of his favorite movie casts from the 80s and 90s, with new episodes rolling out weekly.

The first episode on the channel will see Gad reunite the original cast of beloved 80s adventure comedy The Goonies for the first time in over 30 years. In addition to providing entertainment value, the channel will also raise money for charity, benefitting The Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which helps some of those hit hardest by the coronavirus’ financial impact. (A fundraiser will appear next to the videos on Gad’s channel courtesy of YouTube Giving tools).

“I’ve always dreamed of being able to bring back the casts of my favorite movies of all time,” Gad said in a statement. “All it took was everyone being forced to not leave their homes for two months and spotty WiFi. The only possible way to launch Reunited Apart was to bring back the cast of my favorite childhood film, The Goonies. I am honored they all answered the call, even if each of them was promised an exclusive video of me doing the ‘Truffle Shuffle’. We all need a smile and pure joy right now and I cannot think of a more joyous event then bringing together this incredible group of people.”

This isn’t the only social video venture that Gad has undertaken amid quarantine. Last month on Twitter, Gad began firing up live streams of himself reading bedtime stories for children.
