One of the biggest beauty vloggers and successful brand owners on YouTube, Dubai-based Huda Kattan, has been added to the lineup for the first-ever VidCon gathering in Abu Dhabi.
Kattan will be joined by her sister and business partner, Mona Kattan, at the convention, where the duo will be hosting The Huda Beauty Pitch Fest. (Huda serves as CEO of her namesake Huda Beauty corporation, while Mona serves as global president). The event will see the sisters provide support and mentorship to one lucky beauty entrepreneur, who will also take home $6,000 to launch their own business — which is the exact sum Kattan had when launching her company.
The event is being sponsored by HB Investments, the investment arm of Huda Beauty — a seed round accelerator that invests in startups and consumer-led businesses. Huda Beauty also comprises the eponymous color brand, fragrance company Kayali, and a nascent skin care line called Wishful.
Applications to participate in the Pitch Fest can be submitted right here — and three individual entrepreneurs or groups of co-founders will win the opportunity to pitch their concept to the sisters at VidCon Abu Dhabi in front of a live audience. After a series of questions and feedback, the sisters will then award one winner, who will receive the cash prize as well as mentorship from the Kattans themselves.
“We are looking for innovators, rebels, and disruptive who won’t take no for an answer,” reads the Pitch Fest website. “Do you have an idea that will change the game? Share it with us and let us help you bring it to life. While understanding the financials of your business is crucial, this isn’t your typical Shark Tank pitch. We are looking for passion, intention, and grit.”
As part of their VidCon appearance, the Kattan sisters will also participate in two other events: a discussion hosted by Mona titled How To Build Your Business 101, and a meet-and-greet session. Other attendees at the inaugural VidCon Abu Dhabi, to be held from March 25 to 28, include Gabbie Hanna, Brent Rivera, Noor Stars, the Merrell Twins, and Naz. The event was first announced last December amid a five-year deal with the United Arab Emirates’ department of culture and tourism (DCT).
