Instagram Launches New Tool To Help Users Tidy Up Their Follows

Instagram is adding a new feature that gives users a more all-encompassing look at the accounts that they interact with — to make it easier to unfollow accounts that no longer spark joy.

The lists can be accessed by tapping ‘Following’, Instagram tweeted. And they are divided into different batches, Techcrunch notes, including ‘most seen in feed’ and ‘least interacted with’ (within the past 90 days). ‘Interactions’ refer to liking posts or reacting to Stories. Users can also sort their lists in terms of chronological follows — and so can look back to determine their first Instagram follow ever.

“Instagram is really about bringing you closer to the people and things you care about — but we know that over time, your interests and relationships can evolve and change,” an Instagram spokesperson tells Techcrunch

. “Whether you graduate, move to a new city, or become obsessed with a new interest and find a community, we want to make it easier to manage the accounts you follow on Instagram so that they best represent your current connections and interests.”

Techcrunch also notes that the addition could mark a business benefit, given that if people trim the fat on their feeds and are consistently coming upon posts that they like, they may be less likely to exit the app.
