YouTube App Testing Tool That Automatically Promotes Video Collaborators

YouTube is reportedly testing a new feature on its Android app that will automatically enable creators to shout out collaborators directly beneath their videos — rather than relegating such links to already-teeming description boxes.

The tool, dubbed ‘Featured In This Video’ and spotted by 9To5Google, will automatically promote collaborators without any action from the primary video creator. Instead, YouTube will automatically add channel and subscription links for these collaborators — though it appears that this promotional info will only appear on videos that viewers are watching for the second time, according to 9To5. YouTube says that it will use a “range of signals” to auto-add ‘Featured In This Video’ links section, which will appear below videos but above description boxes.

“We’re starting this experiment with a diverse group of top searched creators across various categories on YouTube, and only a small percentage of viewers using the YouTube Android app will see the feature while we gather feedback,” YouTube wrote of the test, per 9To5Google. No screenshots of the pilot appear to have been captured just yet.
