BroadbandTV Reorganizes Music Services Under ‘Opposition’ Division

BroadbandTV (BBTV), the Vancouver-based digital network, is reorganizing its offerings in the music space. Perhaps best known for furnishing content creation, distribution, management, and monetization services for YouTube creators, BBTV also offers a suite of services to musicians as an alternative to working with traditional record labels.

Beginning today, the company’s one-year-old Distribution & Label Services division — which offers distribution, rights management, brand sponsorship, and influencer marketing services to artists that have collectively garnered 170 million streams — is being reorganized under Broadband’s Opposition brand. Opposition launched in 2015 as a digital hip-hop network, and currently works with the likes of multimedia company Lyrical Lemonade and rappers 21 Savage and Juice WRLD, providing digital video strategy and monetization opportunities.

“We’re at the intersection of music and technology which provides us competitive advantage to adapt our solutions and services to the ever-changing nature and trends of the industry,” Opposition head Shane Gill

said in a statement. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the feedback from artists and their teams on how our leading solutions have brought in untapped audiences they would have never reached.”

The reorganization arrives amid the release today of “Accomplishments” a star-studded collab featuring Opposition artists Lil Keed, Lil Yachty, and Zaytoven.  Additionally, Opposition reps Toronto rapper Killy and Houston rapper TisaKorean (pictured above), who says that signing with Opposition has helped him land a brand ambassadorship with Aeropostale, as well as gigs at the Rolling Loud and Summer Smash festivals.

All told, as of June, BBTV says it has 587 million unique viewers who consume 46.9 billion minutes of video content per month.
