Vimeo Debuts ‘For Hire’, A Marketplace For Video Professionals To Find Clients (And Vice Versa)

Vimeo has launched For Hire, a global marketplace where folks looking for professional video services can find skilled freelancers — and vice versa.

Clients can browse Vimeo’s network of more than 30,000 video professionals, including filmmakers, editors, videographers, animators, and more, looking for their project’s perfect match. Search options within For Hire allow them to find freelancers based on budget, project type, location, skill level, and years of experience. Or, they can post wanted ads describing their project and the professionals they need. Vimeo’s network of professionals can then search wanted ads with similar filtering — by location, project type, etc. — and submit an application directly to clients they want to work with.

Vimeo says it won’t take a fee or commission from either freelancers or clients in exchange for hooking them up with one another.

“Every business, brand, and agency today faces hurdles in producing video at scale,” Anjali Sud, Vimeo’s CEO, said in a statement. “They have a continuous need to make high-quality content on a frequent basis. Right now, they rely on informal networks and word-of-mouth to find the right people to make those videos — which is time-consuming and inefficient.”

She added that with For Hire, “anyone with a video project can easily find industry-leading pros available to work in their desired location, match their needs with the right skillsets and budget, and get their videos made. Best of all, Vimeo is empowering our creative community to get paid doing what they do best.”

For the marketplace’s launch, Vimeo has partnered with several businesses and brands, like digital agency VaynerMedia and mobile payment processer Square, to offer a kick-starting slate of job listings.

“We’re always on the hunt for talented video pros to help us make our next video,” Aaron Kovan, chief production officer at VaynerMedia, said. “Vimeo is already a great spot to get inspired and source talent, and we can’t wait to use this new hiring tool.”
