Cameron Dallas Arrested For Assault In Colorado, Claims Act Of Self-Protection

Hours after cautioning his followers to “be safe tonight” on New Year’s Eve, digital star Cameron Dallas tweeted out a mugshot, confirming reports that he’d been arrested and charged with felony second-degree assault.

Twenty-four-year-old Dallas, who rose to fame on Vine and is currently in the process of kickstarting a music career with the release of “Why Haven’t I Met You?,” allegedly punched another man in the face and broke his nose at a hotel in Aspen, Colo., over the weekend, reports The Aspen Times

. Dallas was subsequently taken into custody, and then later released from the Pitkin County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

Officers first responded to a call at the Hyatt Residence Club at around 5:00 AM on Saturday morning, where a man was bleeding from facial injuries. Police arrested Dallas in conjunction with the incident, per the Times, though have yet to release any additional details.

For his part, Dallas seems to suggest that the punch marked an act of self-defense. “Unfortunately, sometimes in life you find yourself in a situation where you have to protect yourself and the people you care about,” he tweeted alongside the mugshot (below). “Have a safe and happy New Year. 2019 is going to be an amazing one.”
