Pioneering YouTuber Gigi Gorgeous Has Penned A Memoir About Her Transgender Journey

Pioneering YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous, one of the platform’s first transgender creators to furnish an intimate glimpse into the struggles and triumphs of her journey — can now add published author to her extensive resume.

While Gorgeous has already shared her story in the acclaimed YouTube Premium documentary This Is Everything, she has now put pen to paper for an upcoming memoir cleverly titled He Said, She Said. Published by Penguin Random House and currently available for preoder for $19, the book will hit shelves in April, and will comprise stories about Gorgeous’ transition. It will also feature intimate photos and offer viewers inspirational nuggets about the way “life can take you to incredible places once you get real with yourself,” according to its jacket description.

In an announcement video for the project (below), Gorgeous acknowledged that she has stepped away from posting on YouTube in recent months, saying that the beauty community has become increasingly

toxic — goaded on, no doubt, by drama channels that amplify missteps and feuds. Gorgeous says she has also been occupied by planning her wedding (to fiancée Nats Getty) as well as contemplating having children (as she shared in a recent video).

“I really dug deep into things that I didn’t know i felt,” Gorgeous, who is 26, says of her literary foray. “I already feel like I could write a second one.” She explains that the cover cover photo — in which she’s shaving her legs — is a nod to the stigmas surrounding body hair faced by many transgender women. The cover’s background also feature the colors of the transgender flag: baby blue, baby pink, and white.

To promote the release next spring, Gorgeous says she’d like to visit schools across the country to talk to students about her experiences as a transgender woman.
