Second Season Of Netflix’s ‘American Vandal’ Will Seek To Unmask ‘The Turd Burglar’ (Trailer)

The Emmy-nominated first season of Netflix mockumentary American Vandal, which starred YouTuber Jimmy Tatro, turned a lens on a local high school where amateur student investigators sought to uncover — over the course of eight episodes — who spray-painted penises on 27 cars in the faculty parking lot.

Now, the second season of the show also looks to have an equally ludicrous — though slightly more nauseating — premise, if a trailer released today (below) is any indication. The student documentarian team at the heart of season one, Peter Maldonado (Tyler Alvarez) and Sam Ecklund (Griffin Gluck), have set their sights on a wealthy private school called St. Bernardine, which is being terrorized by a so-called ‘Turd Burglar’.

According to the trailer, The Turd Burglar contaminated the school’s lemonade supply at lunch one afternoon, causing all of the students to move their bowels uncontrollably in an event that eventually became known as ‘the brown out’. The Turd Burglar then takes to social media in order to taunt victims. While a junior has already been expelled for the crimes, Maldonado and Ecklund must determine if the true culprit has been found.

While Tatro doesn’t appear to be back for season two, which is set to premiere on Sept. 14 on Netflix, Alvarez and Gluck will reprise their roles. Other new cast members include Travis Tope (Boardwalk Empire), Taylor Dearden (Sweet/Vicious), Vine star Melvin Gregg, and DeRon Horton (Dear White People), per Deadline. American Vandal was created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault; its showrunner is Dan Lagana.
